in support of the Carrillo Ranch Fund, and directing the appropriation of the received funds.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Since 2004, the City of Carlsbad Parks and Recreation Department has offered a free Friday Night Film
Festival at Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park. The community event has continued to gain popularity as
nightly attendance has increased, with guests eager to view historic Hollywood Golden Age movies
featuring Leo Carrillo.
As a result of recent budget reductions in Fiscal Year 2009-2010, the Friday Night Film Festival was
completely eliminated for the 2009 season. In an effort to restore the event this season, a donation in
the amount of $5,000 was presented to the Friends of Carrillo Ranch by an anonymous donor to be
specifically allocated to fund the Friday Night Film Festival for the 2009 season.
The City of Carlsbad Parks and Recreation Department wishes to acknowledge the generosity of the
anonymous donor and the Friends of Carrillo Ranch for their dedication to Leo Carrillo Ranch, and their
financial support of the Friday Night Film Series.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Parks and Recreation Department requests that the Council accept the cash donation in the amount
of $5,000 and authorize the Finance Director to appropriate the received donation in support of the
Carrillo Ranch Fund to be used for purposes related to the staffing and operation of the Friday Night
Film Festival.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Pursuant to Public Resources Code section 21065 and CEQA Guidelines section 15378, this action
does not constitute a "project" within the meaning of CEQA and therefore, does not require an
environmental review.
EXHIBITS:
1. Resolution No.2009-215 authorizing acceptance of donation and appropriation of the
received donation in support of the Carrillo Ranch Fund to be used for purposes related to the
staffing and operation of the Friday Night Film Festival.

2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING AND
3 APPROPRIATING A CASH DONATION IN THE AMOUNT
4 OF $5,000 TO THE CARRILLO RANCH FUND.
5 WHEREAS, the City Council of Carlsbad, California wishes to accept a cash

donation in the amount of $5,000 and acknowledge the generosity and support of the
7 ,
anonymous donor and the Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc.; and8
„ WHEREAS, the funds will be used for purposes related to the staffing and
IQ operation of the Friday Night Film Festival; and
11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
12 Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

2. That the City Council does hereby accept the cash donation in the amount

of $5,000.

3. That the City Council hereby authorizes the Finance Director to
