HEAll^S^ CITY ATTY. ^^ CITY MGR. ijs-" RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 2009-317 approving out-of-state travel for Recreation Services Manager - Spickard to attend the National Parks & Recreation Association (NRPA) Revenue Development and Management School. The training will be held in Wheeling, West Virginia, March 14-19,2010. ITEM EXPLANATION: This training is a highly-interactive professional development opportunity designed for agencies that rely entirely on or in part on generating revenues. Participants explore all aspects of revenue generation and management for park and recreation operations through proven successful techniques. Specific topics to be addressed are: Revenue Development and Management; Sponsorships; Partnerships; Trends & Markets; Pricing for Cost Recovery; Marketing Plan Development. Also included, a case study and tour of the first revenue based Public Park System. With the challenges of shrinking general funds and the reality of having to do more with less, staff believes that this is a unique learning opportunity that will assist in guiding the Parks & Recreation Department through these economic times by providing knowledge on how to pursue alternative funding opportunities. FISCAL IMPACT: The cost to attend the school, including airfare, lodging, meals, and tuition is approximately $2,000. Sufficient funds are available in the Parks and Recreation budget designated for training and conference travel. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: This action is not a project within the meaning of CEQA and no further review is required. EXHIBITS: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 15 2.
