RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2010-001 accepting a donation in the amount of $4,373 from the
North San Diego County Genealogical Society to the Carlsbad City Library, authorizing the
Finance Director to appropriate the received funds to the Library budget and directing an
appropriate letter of thanks.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The North San Diego County Genealogical Society has long been a supporter of the Carlsbad
City Library and has continuously provided funds for additions to the collection in the
Genealogy Division at the Georgina Cole Library.
The Board of the Society recently voted to donate $4,373 for the specific purpose of purchasing
shelving for the collection at the Georgina Cole Library.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This donation will provide for the purchase of much needed additional shelving for the
genealogy collection. Funds for the additional shelving were not included in the Library's
budget and will be spent within the current fiscal year.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Accepting this donation does not qualify as a project under the California Environmental Quality
Act (CEQA Guidelines Section 15378) and no environmental review is required.
EXHIBITS:

LIBRARY AND APPROPRIATING THE FUNDS

WHEREAS, The North San Diego County Genealogical Society has donated
$4,373 to the Carlsbad City Library for the purchase of shelving for the Genealogy area
7 in the Georgina Cole Library; and
WHEREAS, The City Council wishes to accept this gift on behalf of all citizens of
9 Carlsbad;
10 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
11 Carlsbad, California, as follows:

1. That the above recitations are true and correct,

2. That the City Council accepts the gift from the North San Diego County
14 Genealogical Society for the purchase of the shelving for the Georgina Cole
Library and hereby authorizes the Finance Director to appropriate the
received funds to the Library budget.
