RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2010-061 accepting a donation of holiday decorations
totaling seven hundred forty dollars ($740) to be used at Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic
Park.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Since 1989, longtime contributor and park supporter, Joan Kindle, has been
handcrafting a variety of unique, collectable crafts and ornaments to raise money to
benefit the Carrillo Ranch Trust Fund. Many of her items are offered for sale during the
annual Holiday at the Rancho special event. During the past 20 years, Joan has
beautifully crafted a collection of keepsake ornaments to showcase in one of the ranch
rooms throughout the entire holiday season.
On January 3, 2010, Joan donated a portion of her personal collection and a 4 foot
lighted tree to be used in Horseman's bedroom at Leo Carrillo Ranch. The colorful
display of lights and ornaments is designed to visually invite visitors and guests into one
of the rooms for a more intimate look at the tree and other historic artifacts on display.
Out of pocket expenses for the decorations and tree total $740.
On February 22, 2010, the Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously accepted
the donation and recommended acceptance by City Council.
The City of Carlsbad Parks and Recreation Department wishes to acknowledge the
continuous support and generous donations that Joan Kindle has provided Leo Carrillo
Ranch.
Letters of appreciation have been sent on behalf of the Parks & Recreation Department
and the City of Carlsbad.
