RECOMMENDED ACTION:
2010-100 _, accepting a seven hundred dollar ($700) cashAdopt Resolution No. _
donation in support of the Leo Carrillo Ranch Trust Fund, and directing the appropriation of the
received funds.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
In June 2010, staff at Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park will open a new interpretive exhibit
featuring the life and times of Leo Carrillo and his role in the popular "Cisco Kid" television
series. This exhibit will feature numerous displays consisting of historic photographs, authentic
regalia worn in the television show, as well as interactive items representative of the period that
visitors of all ages can enjoy. One such item is a refurbished saddle and custom built saddle
stand which will allow both children and adults alike the opportunity to experience the feel of
sitting in an authentic riding saddle.
In an effort to offset the costs associated with the saddle restoration and construction of the
saddle stand, a donation in the amount of $700 was presented to The Friends of Carrillo Ranch
by an anonymous donor. In their continuing support of operations at Leo Carrillo Ranch
Historic Park, the Friends of Carrillo Ranch generously donated the entire amount to the Parks
and Recreation Department to assist with costs associated with this portion of the exhibit.
On April 19, 2010, the Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously accepted the donation,
and recommended acceptance and appropriation by the City Council.
The City of Carlsbad Parks and Recreation Department wishes to acknowledge the
Friends of Carrillo Ranch for their continued dedication to Leo Carrillo Ranch. A letter of
appreciation has been sent on behalf of the City of Carlsbad.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The $700 donation will be deposited into the Carrillo Ranch Trust Fund to be used for costs
associated with the restoration of the saddle and construction of the saddle stand to be used in
the upcoming exhibit.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Pursuant to Public Resources Code section 21065 and CEQA Guidelines section 15378, this
action does not constitute a "project" within the meaning of CEQA and therefore, does not
require an environmental review.

6 WHEREAS, the City Council of Carlsbad, California wishes to accept a cash
7 donation in the amount of $700 and acknowledge the generosity and support of an
8 anonymous donor and the Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc.; and
9
WHEREAS, the City Council of Carlsbad, California wishes to thank the
10
Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc. for their generous cash donation, and the continued
11
support of Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park; and
12
WHEREAS, the funds will be used to support the costs associated with the
restoration of a riding saddle and construction of a custom built saddle stand for a new
interpretive exhibit at Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park.
16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
17 Carlsbad, California, as follows:
