RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.2010-179 accepting a donation of $1,000 from the
Carlsbad Lions Club, directing a letter of thanks, and authorizing the Finance Director to
appropriate the received funds to the Library's budget.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
At the City Council Meeting of June 22, 2010, Miss Teen Carlsbad 2010, Skyler Blankenship,
presented a check in the amount of $1,000 to the Carlsbad City Library on behalf of the
Carlsbad Lions Club. The letter accompanying the check specified that the funds were to be
used to provide materials for the sight and hearing impaired.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The donation from the Lions Club allows the Library to increase the acquisitions budget for the
purchase of materials specifically for the sight and hearing impaired.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Accepting and appropriating this donation does not qualify as a "project" under the California
Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) per State CEQA Guidelines Section 15378 as it does not
result in a direct or reasonable foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.

5 WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Lions Club has donated $1,000 to the City of
ad for the Carlsbad City Library, and;
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Lions Club has specified the donation be used to

purchase materials for the sight and hearing impaired;
8 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
9 Carlsbad, California, as follows:

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.11
12 2. That the City Council accepts the gift of $1,000 from the Carlsbad Lions
13 Club, on behalf of all citizens of Carlsbad, and hereby authorizes the
14 Finance Director to appropriate the received funds to the Library's budget.
