RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.2010-180 accepting a donation of $1,000 from the Plaza
Paseo Real Associates, LLC, directing a letter of thanks, and authorizing the Finance Director
to appropriate the received funds to the Library's budget.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Carlsbad City Library on Dove Lane has participated in some marketing campaigns with
the neighboring Plaza Paseo Real and was approached by the marketing company to partner
in an outdoor movie night. Plaza Paseo Real Associates, LLC, has donated $1,000 to cover the
costs of the event which is being held in the courtyard of the Library.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The donation from the Plaza Paseo Real Associates, LLC will cover the costs of the outdoor
program at the Library and allow the Library to provide this program free to the public without
costs to the City.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Accepting and appropriating this donation does not qualify as a "project" under the California
Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) per State CEQA Guidelines Section 15378 as it does not
result in a direct or reasonable foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.

3 AND APPROPRIATING A DONATION FROM

5 WHEREAS, Plaza Paseo Real Associates, LLC, has partnered with the

Carlsbad City Library to host an outdoor movie night in the Library courtyard; and
7 WHEREAS, Plaza Paseo Real Associates, LLC, has donated $1,000 to the
8 Carlsbad City Library to cover the costs associated with the event;
9 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.11
12 2. That the City Council accepts the donation of $1,000 from Plaza Paseo
13 Real Associates, LLC, on behalf of all citizens of Carlsbad, and hereby
14 authorizes the Finance Director to appropriate the received funds to the
Library's budget.
