RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2011-083 accepting a donation of $59,000 from the Carlsbad
Library and Arts Foundation to the Carlsbad City Library and directing an appropriate letter of
thanks.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation has donated $59,000 from its Robert H. Gartner
Endowment Fund to be used for cultural programming in the Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium at
the Carlsbad City Library.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The donation will be used to enhance cultural programming during FY2011-12 in the Ruby G.
Schulman Auditorium at the Carlsbad City Library as set forth in the terms of the Robert H.
Gartner bequest.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Accepting this donation does not qualify as a "project" under the California Environmental
Quality Act (CEQA) per State CEQA Guidelines Section 15378 as it does not result in a direct
or reasonable foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.
EXHIBITS:
1. Resolution No. 2011-083 accepting a donation of $59,000 from the Carlsbad Library
and Arts Foundation for cultural programming in the Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium at
the Carlsbad City Library.

2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A
3 DONATION TO THE CARLSBAD CITY LIBRARY FROM
THE CARLSBAD LIBRARY AND ARTS FOUNDATION4
5 WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation has generously donated
6 $59,000 to the Carlsbad City Library from the Robert H. Gartner Endowment Fund;
7 and
o
WHEREAS, the donation will enhance cultural programming during FY2011-12
9 in the Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium at the Carlsbad City Library as specified in the

conditions of the Robert H. Gartner bequest;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
13 Carlsbad, California, as follows:
14 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council accepts with thanks the donation of $59,000 from the

Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation.
