RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2011-233 accepting a donation of $1,500 from the Leichtag Family
Foundation in support of tuition costs associated with attendance in the Leadership North County
(LNC) program provided by Cal State University - San Marcos.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Leadership North County is a comprehensive leadership program that fosters the growth of
community leaders who will serve as catalysts in building a stronger region. The program
objectives include increasing participant's awareness of the issues affecting the region and
highlighting areas in which local leaders might collaborate to work more efficiently.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The generous donation from the Leightag Family Foundation will cover the $1,495 tuition for
one individual to attend the Leadership North County program.
EXHIBITS:
1. Resolution No. 2011-233 accepting a donation from the Leichtag Family Foundation
in support of tuition costs for the LNC program and authorizing the Finance Director to
appropriate the received funds to the City Manager budget.

2 A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE
3 ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION TO THE CITY OF
4 CARLSBAD AND AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION
OF RECEIVED FUNDS.

6 WHEREAS, The Leichtag Family Foundation has offered the City of Carlsbad a
7 donation of $1,500; and,
8 WHEREAS, the President of the Leichtag Family Foundation has requested that
9 the donation be used to cover the cost of tuition for one individual to attend the
10 Leadership North County program;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
12
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
14 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
15 2. That the City Council accepts the donation of $1,500 from the Leichtag Family
16 Foundation for tuition expenses related to attendance in the Leadership North
17 County program and authorizes the Finance Director to appropriate the received
18 funds to the City Manager budget.
