CASH DONATION TO THE LEO CARRILLO
RANCH TRUST FUND IN SUPPORT OF
FRIDAY NIGHT FILM SERIES

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2011-248 , accepting cash donation in the amount of two thousand five
hundred dollars ($2,500) in support of the Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park Friday Night Film
Series, and recommend acceptance by the City Council and directing the finance director to
appropriate the received funds to the Leo Carrillo Ranch Trust Fund.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
As part of their continued support of Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park, the Friends of Carrillo
Ranch, Inc. have provided a donation to offset costs associated with the Friday Night Film
Series. The Friday Night Film Series occurs for five consecutive weeks beginning in late
August each year. This event, which attracts hundreds of visitors each night, has become a
tradition amongst movie goers who want to see a vintage film starring Leo Carrillo. Each
night begins with an episode of "The Cisco Kid." Guests are able to enjoy refreshments in a
beautiful outdoor setting, while enjoying entertainment from Hollywood's Golden Era.
The Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc. were presented with a donation from an anonymous donor
in the amount of $2,500 in support of the 2011 film series. On June 9, 2011, the Friends
made the donation to the city on behalf of the supporter, and the funds were deposited into
the Leo Carrillo Ranch Trust Fund to offset expenses associated with the event.
On September 19, 2011, the Parks & Recreation Commission unanimously accepted the
donation and recommended acceptance by City Council.
The City of Carlsbad Parks and Recreation Department wishes to acknowledge the continued
support of the Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc. A letter of appreciation has been sent on
behalf of the Parks and Recreation Department to express our gratitude.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Cash donation in the amount of $2,500 was received and posted in FY 2010-11 to the Leo
Carrillo Ranch Trust Fund in support of the 2011 Friday Night Film Series. Funds were not
appropriated in the FY 2011-12 budget process, and wish to be appropriated at this time.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 21065 and CEQA Guidelines section 15738, this
action does not constitute a "Project" within the meaning of CEQA and therefore, does not
require an environmental review.

, $2,500 IN SUPPORT OF FRIDAY NIGHT FILM SERIES AT
LEO CARRILLO RANCH HISTORIC PARK
6 WHEREAS, the City Council of Carlsbad, California wishes to accept a cash
7 donation in the amount of $2,500 and acknowledge the generosity and support of the
8 Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc.; and
9 WHEREAS, the City Council of Carlsbad, California wishes to thank the Friends
10
of Carrillo Ranch, Inc. for their support of the Friday Night Film Series at Leo Carrillo
11
Ranch Historic Park; and
12
WHEREAS, the $2,500 donation was received in fiscal year 2010-11 and not
appropriated during the fiscal year 2011-12 budget process; and
15 WHEREAS, the funds will be used to support costs associated with the Friday
16 Night Film Series.
17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
18 Carlsbad, California, as follows:
19 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

2. That the City Council does hereby accept the cash donation in the amount
21
of $2,500.22
23 3. That the City Council authorizes the finance director to appropriate the $2,500
24 donation received during fiscal year 2010-11 to the fiscal year 2011-12
25 Carrillo Ranch Trust Fund.

of the City of Carlsbad on the 25th day of October, 2011, by the following vote to wit:
