DIRECTOR MTG. i/in/i2 REQUEST FOR OUT-OF-STATE TRAVEL TO ATTEND FORUMS ON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION CITY ATTY. <^ DEPT. XT REQUEST FOR OUT-OF-STATE TRAVEL TO ATTEND FORUMS ON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION CITY MGR. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 2012-002 approving the Information Technology Director out of state travel to attend two forums on information technology innovation. ITEM EXPLANATION: The purpose ofthe travel is to attend the Government IT Forum (February 26, 2012 - February 28, 2012 in Dallas, Texas) and the Gartner CIO Leadership Forum (March 25, 2012 - March 27, 2012 in Phoenix, Arizona). Both forums offer attendees the experience to exchange ideas and receive actionable guidance from information technology peers and industry experts. The Government IT Forum is an opportunity for agencies to develop new strategies for serving their respective community. The City of Cartsbad's Information Technology Director is invited to present on the use of cloud computing in local government. As such, the forum itself is covering event registration, lodging and meal costs. The cost for this conference is limited to travel only. The Gartner CIO Leadership Forum provides IT leaders an opportunity to examine what works and what doesn't when it comes to technology innovation. The forum is designed for intensive peer-to- peer exchange and collaborative problem-solving around areas such as business intelligence, resource management, social networking and strategic planning. Registration for this forum is included within the City of Cartsbad's Gartner membership. Costs would be limited to travel, lodging and food. FISCAL IMPACT: The cost to attend both forums is approximately $1,400 which includes conference applicable flights, shuttles, lodging, and meals.
