DONATION TO THE CARLSBAD CITY

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2012-017 accepting a donation of $1,000 from Donald Capp,
Jr. to the Carlsbad City Library, directing an appropriate letter of thanks, and authorizing the
Finance Director to appropriate the received funds to the Library's operating budget.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Carlsbad City Library has received a donation in the amount of $1,000 from Mr. Donald
Capp, Jr. of Fullerton, California. Mr. Capp has requested these funds be used to purchase
history non-fiction audiobooks for the collection.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This donation to the Carlsbad City Library is especially beneficial during the current economic
climate in that the funds will be used for the purchase of history, non-fiction titles, augmenting
this year's materials budget for the Library.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Pursuant to Public Resources Code section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project"
within the meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical
change in the environment, or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the
environment, and therefore does not require environmental review.

5 WHEREAS, the Carlsbad City Library has received a donation in the amount of

WHEREAS, Mr. Capp has requested these funds be used for the purchase of

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
