RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2012-069 , accepting in-kind donation of seven benches with a
fair market value of two thousand five hundred fifty dollars ($2,550) to Leo Carrillo Ranch
Historic Park, and recommend acceptance by the City Council.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
As part of their confinued support of Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park, the Friends of Carrillo
Ranch, Inc. have provided a donation of seven park benches to be placed at prominent
locafions throughout the park (Exhibit 2). The first bench was donated in memory of the late
Tony Carter, a Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc. Board member. Subsequently, addifional benches
were donated honoring current Board members plus the Volunteer Curator. While some have
been painted white to match existing benches at the park, others have been left in their natural
wood finish to blend in with the surroundings.
The fair market value ofthe seven benches donated by the Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc. is
$2,550. Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park attracts thousands of visitors each year. Now, these
guests have even more places they can choose to relax as they enjoy the natural beauty and
history ofthe park.
On January 30, 2012, the Parks & Recreafion Commission unanimously accepted the donafion
and recommended acceptance by City Council.
The City of Carisbad Parks & Recreation Department wishes to acknowledge the continued
support ofthe Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The in-kind donation of $2,550 supplements Parks & Recreation's operafing budget and helps
with the efficient use of General Fund funds.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Pursuant to Public Resources Code Secfion 21065 and CEQA Guidelines secfion 15738, this
action does not constitute a "Project" within the meaning of CEQA and therefore, does not
require an environmental review.

WHEREAS, on September 14, 2011, the Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc.

J presented the City of Carisbad with a donafion of park benches valued at $2,550 to
8 Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park; and
9 WHEREAS, the first bench was donated in memory of the late Tony Carter, a
10 Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc. Board member. Subsequently, addifional benches
were donated honoring current Board members plus the Volunteer Curator; and
WHEREAS, on January 30, 2012 the Parks & Recreation Commission
recommended the acceptance ofthe in-kind donation by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to acknowledge the continued generosity
and support ofthe Friends of Carrillo Ranch, Inc.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of

19 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
20 2. That the City Council does hereby accept in-kind donafion of park
21 benches valued at $2,550.
