RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2Q12-119 and 2012-120 appointing two members to the Historic
Preservation Commission.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The temi of Commissioner Tom Wachter is expiring in April. Mr. Wachter has indicated he does not
wish reappointment to the Historic Preservation Commission.
The temri of Commissioner Raul Diaz also expires In April. Mr. Diaz was appointed in February 2008
and has served one full temn on the Commission.
Two appointments to the Historic Preservation Commission are required.
Applications to the Historic Preservation Commission are on file in the Office ofthe City Clerk.
NOTE: Members of the Historic Preservation Commission are subject to the provisions
of the Political Reform Act, and must file a Statement of Economic Interests.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Pursuant to Public Resources Code section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project" within
the meaning of CEQA in that it has not potential to cause either a direct physical change in the
environment, or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment, and therefore
does not require environmental review.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING ONE MEMBER TO
THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, the term of Commissioner Tom Wachter expires in April; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Wachter has indicated he does not wish to be reappointed to the
Historic Preservation Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the following person is hereby appointed to serve as a member of the

expire m Apnl of 2012. It has been my pleasure to serve with fellow commission
members under llie very capable leadership of Suzanne Smithson.
At this point in time I feel it is appropriate for me to step down from the H.P.C hi so
_ 7^1^ !;^e to seek out openings on other commissions on which to serve. For the
present I am willing to continue in H.P.C. till a replacement is found.
