RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution Nos. 2012-181 and 7012-182 appointing two members to the
Library Board of Trustees.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The term of Trustee Bob Benson expired in June 2012. Mr. Benson has served three years
and nine months, and is eligible for reappointment. He has expressed a desire to be
reappointed to the Library Board of Trustees.
The term of Trustee Marie Bradley expired in June 2012. Ms. Bradley has served six years and
four months, and is eligible for reappointment. She has expressed a desire to be reappointed
to the Library Board of Trustees.
Two appointments to the Library Board of Trustees are therefore required.
NOTE: Members of the Library Board of Trustees are subject to the provisions of the
Political Reform Act, and must file a Statement of Economic Interests.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Pursuant to Public Resources Code section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project"
within the meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical
change in the environment, or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the
environment, and therefore does not require environmental review.

Library Board of Trustees Reappointment
Council Members,
It has been a pleasure serving the City of Carlsbad by participating as a member of the Library Board of
Trustees. My term expires in June 2012 and I respectfully request to be reappointed.

Dear Mayor Hall:
First of all, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve
on the Carlsbad City Library Board of Trustees. As you may
recall, I was appointed to this Board to serve out the term for
Trustee Laurie Page when she resigned in 2005, and was
reappointed in 2008 for my first full term. My appointment
will expire in June of this year.
I have greatly enjoyed serving on this Board and my interest
and support of our Library and its service to this community
increases daily. I would like an opportunity to continue in this
position and would appreciate your consideration in
reappointing me for another four year term.
