NOTICE OF COMPLETION OF CONTRACT FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF THE TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT
EL FUERTE STREET AND LOKER AVENUE,
PROJECT NO. 6324-1

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. _ 2013-058 accepting the contract for construction of the Traffic Signal at
El Fuerte Street and Loker Avenue, Project No. 6324-1 as complete, and directing the City Clerk to
record a Notice of Completion and release bonds in accordance with State Law and City Ordinances.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On May 8, 2012, the City of Carlsbad awarded a contract to Sutherlin Contracting, Inc. in the amount
of $169,327 for the construction of the Traffic Signal at El Fuerte Street and Loker Avenue,
Project No. 6324-1.
Sutherlin Contracting, Inc. completed the contract on February 13, 2013. City staff has inspected the
work and found it to be satisfactory. Staff recommends acceptance of the improvements by the City
Council.

The approval of a Notice of Completion is a ministerial process and is exempt from the requirements of
the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Carisbad Municipal Code Section
19.040.070 A.1.a.

5 WHEREAS, the construction of the Traffic Signal at El Fuerte Street and Loker Avenue,

Project No. 6324-1, has been completed to the city's satisfaction by Sutherlin Contracting, Inc.
on February 13, 2013; and
WHEREAS, the formal project Notice of Completion has been prepared; and
WHEREAS, all project costs have been established to date.
11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
12 California, as follows that:
1. The above recitations are true and correct
