RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2013-066 accepting a donation of $5,000 from Linda Sarnowsky to the
Carlsbad City Library, directing an appropriate letter of thanks, and authorizing the Finance Director to
appropriate the received funds to the Library & Cultural Arts operating budget.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Library patron and Friends of the Carlsbad City Library Vice President Linda Sarnowsky has donated these
funds to recognize the continued support provided to the Carlsbad City Library by the Friends' Board
Members and Volunteers through the years.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This donation to the Carlsbad City Library is especially beneficial during the current economic climate in
that Ms. Sarnowsky has requested the funds be used for the purchase of fiction titles, augmenting this
year's materials budget for the Library.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Pursuant to Public Resources Code section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project" within the
meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment, or
a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment, and therefore does not require
environmental review.
EXHIBITS:
1. Resolution No. 2013-066 accepting the donation from Linda Sarnowsky to the Carlsbad City
Library and authorizing the Finance Director to appropriate the received funds.

THE CARLSBAD CITY LIBRARY AND AUTHORIZING THE
4 APPROPRIATION OF THE RECEIVED FUNDS

WHEREAS, the Carlsbad City Ubrary has received a $5,000 donation from Carlsbad
resident and Friends ofthe CaHsbad City Library Vice President Unda Sarnowsky; and
8 WHEREAS, Ms. Sarnowsky has requested these funds be used to augment the Ubrary's
^ collection budget specifically for the purchase of fiction material;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of CaHsbad,

California, as follows that:

1. The above recitations are true and correct.
14 2. That the City Council accepts the generous donation of $5,000 from Ms. Sarnowsky
on behalf of all citizens of CaHsbad, and authonzes the Finance Director to
appropnate the received funds to the Ubrary &Cultural Arts budget.
