RECOMMENDED ACTION:
To receive a presentation from representatives of Poseidon Resources and the San Diego
County Water Authority regarding the Carlsbad Desalination project.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Representatives from Poseidon Resources and the San Diego County Water Authority will give
an update on current and future activities relating to the construction of the Carlsbad
Desalination project.

Construction Update

City of Carlsbad Oversight
Construction Oversight by the City of
Carlsbad:
–Review and approval of construction plans
–Approve encroachment permits prior to start of
construction
–Approve traffic control plan
–Approve of work hours
–Inspect construction and restoration for compliance
with approved plans, permit and code
requirements
Maintain Access and Minimize Disruption
Traffic management plans are being developed to
maintain access and minimize disruption for local
residents:
Implement City approved traffic control plan to streamline traffic patterns, maintain flow, and minimize delays
Tunnel under Interstate 5
Maintain business access
Manage schedule to minimize impacts
Ensure access to emergency personnel and first
responders, including paramedics, fire, police, and utilities.
