ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION IN SUPPORT OF
THE CARLSBAD SENIOR CENTER

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.2013-180. accepting a donation of one hundred nine thousand, six hundred eighty-
six dollars and eighty-three cents ($109,686.83) in support ofthe Carlsbad Senior Center.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On March 27, 2013, the Carlsbad Senior Center was presented with a donation in the amount of
$109,686.83 from the Lee Elson and Maria Elson Trust. The Carlsbad Senior Center was one of three
organizations who were recipients of donations funded from the distribution of this trust.
At their regular meeting, April 25, 2013, the Senior Commission voted unanimously to recommend
acceptance of this donation by City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Donation of $109,686.83 has been deposited into the Senior Program Donation Account to be used to
support programs and equipment provided at the senior center.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project" within the
meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment,
or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment, and therefore does not require
environmental review.

WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Senior Center was presented with a donation from the Lee

Elson and Maria Elson Trust on March 27, 2013; and

WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to accept this donation in the amount of
$109,686.83; and
WHEREAS, on April 25, 2013 the Senior Commission recommended acceptance of the
donation in the amount of $109,686.83 by the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California
as follows:
