DEPT.DIRECTOR CITY ATTY. CITY MGR. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 2013-185 authorizing the Information Technology Project Portfolio Manager and Information Technology Business Systems Analyst to attend a three day training, held in Seattle, Washington, on the city project portfolio management tool - Daptiv - on August 21-23, 2013. ITEM EXPLANATION: The purpose ofthe travel is to attend Daptiv tool report training. The Daptiv system is a project and portfolio tracking tool. Daptiv allows visibility into several aspects of the city's information technology project portfolio confirming alignment to the city's information technology strategy and goals. This training will allow city staff to create reports like project budget vs. actual, deliverable variance, percent complete, and capacity planning. These are just a few ofthe reports available with proper training. These reports allow the information technology team to adequately manage the resource capacity for projects as well as implement projects with increased timing and accuracy. The training is offered in Seattle, Washington only. FISCAL IMPACT: The cost to attend the training is approximately $2,200.00 which includes training, applicable flights, shuttles, lodging, and meals. Funds are available in the Information Technology Department budget to cover all estimated costs. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: Pursuant to Public Resources Code section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project" within the meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment, or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment, and therefore does not require environmental review.
