RECOMMENDED ACTON:
To receive a presentation from representatives of Poseidon Resources and the San Diego County Water
Authority regarding the Carlsbad Desalination project.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Representatives from Poseidon Resources and the San Diego County Water Authority will give an update
on current and future activities relating to the construction ofthe Carlsbad Desalination project.
FISCAL IMPAa:
None.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPAa:
Pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project" within the
meaning of CECiA in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment,
or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment, and therefore does not require
environmental review.

Community Outreach Update
Bi-weekly Friday eBlasts continue with updates to Carlsbad residents, property owners and tenants.
Continued one-on-one outreach to Lionshead Businesses, Car
Country, GIA, Legoland, Carlsbad Sheraton, West Development etc.
Continued Carlsbad Research Center Outreach
Work to start in the CRC late February.
Update Meeting with the Owners Association January 21.
Business Open House Scheduled for January 29.
Continued one-on-one meetings with Property Owners, Tenants and Property Management Companies.

Pipeline Construction – Lionshead Avenue
Work has reached first
business driveways on
Lionshead.
Tenants have been
notified that one driveway
will remain open as access at all times.
Night excavation has begun from 3:30 – 11:30
PM Monday thru Friday.
Crews should reach
Eagle Drive by mid-
February.

Pipeline Construction – Cannon Road
Work is progressing
across the Grand Pacific
Drive intersection,
completing half at a time.
Car Country Drive is
closed for 12 days while
crews make it across this
intersection. Will be open Friday, January 31.

Pipeline Construction - Avenida Encinas
KSD completed a right-of-
entry with West
Development
Crews have begun
shoring on the jack and
bore pit in front of West
Bistro and Hotel.
The bore pit will be in place for up to 4 months, but access to all businesses will be
maintained at all times.

Pipeline Construction – Macario Canyon Tunnel
CA Coastal Commission approval December 11th.
Carlsbad grants easements (Expected January 2014)
