RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.2014-039appointing Kathy Dodson as the Interim City Manager.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
In December 2013, the Interim City Manager Kevin Crawford announced his resignation effective
February 28, 2014. It is recommended that Assistant City Manager Kathy Dodson be appointed as
Interim City Manager until the successor City Manager takes office.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The fiscal impact for this action is estimated to be $26,903 annually. The salary for the interim City
Manager represents a fifteen percent (15%) increase to the incumbent's current annual compensation.
There are sufficient funds available in the City Council contingency to cover this expense.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
This report is not subject to CEQA review.

4 WHEREAS, the City Manager announced his resignation effective February 28, 2014; and
5 WHEREAS, Assistant City Manager Kathy Dodson has the skills, knowledge and ability to
serve as the interim City Manager until the successor City Manager takes office.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California
as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
