DEPT.DIRECTOR CITY ATTY. CITY MGR. ^ RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 2014-048 authorizing the Chief Technology Officer attend a two day summit, held in National Harbor, Maryland, to gain critical insights and advice on emerging technologies that drive innovation and achieve strategic business objectives - on June 4-5, 2014. ITEM EXPLANATION: The purpose ofthe travel is to attend the Gartner Enterprise Architecture Summit. The Gartner Enterprise Architecture (EA) Summit is an esteemed gathering of enterprise architects, business strategists and IT innovafion teams. Summit attendees benefit from a unique learning experience filled with thought-provoking presentations, real-world case studies, analyst engagement and access to leading EA solution providers. This summit will provide important information on enterprise architecture and how this methodology could be leveraged to deliver the highest business value and impact to the city organizafion. FISCAL IMPACT: The cost to attend the summit is approximately $1,500.00 which includes admission to the summit, applicable flights, shuttles, lodging, and meals. Funds are available in the Informafion Technology Department budget to cover ali estimated costs. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: Pursuant to Public Resources Code section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project" within the meaning of CEQA in that it has no potenfial to cause either a direct physical change in the environment, or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment, and therefore does not require environmental review. NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows that: 1. The above recitations are true and correct. 2.
