RECOMMENDED ACTION;
To receive a presentation from representatives of Poseidon Resources and the San Diego County Water
Authority regarding the CaHsbad Desalination project.
ITEM EXPLANATION;
Representatives from Poseidon Resources and the San Diego County Water Authority will give an update
on current and future activities relatingto the construction ofthe Carlsbad Desalination project.
FISCAL IMPACT;
None.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT;
Pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project" within the
meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment,
or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment, and therefore does not require
environmental review.

Pipeline Construction – Cannon Road
The Legoland Drive
intersection has been
paved and is open to
normal traffic flow.
Trenching is nearing
competition on Cannon
and crews will be moving
to Lower Faraday this
week.

Pipeline Construction – Faraday Avenue / CRC
Jack and Bore tunnel at
Van Allen Way continues
and will be complete end
of April.
Tunnel at College has
begun and will be
complete early May.
Trenching will begin April
1 just west of Van Allen
heading east towards
College.

Pipeline Construction – Lionshead Avenue
Work has crossed Eagle
Drive and Eagle is back
open, a week ahead of
schedule.
Work continues towards
Melrose and the
Lionshead/Melrose
intersection will be
closed early-mid April.
Prior to this closure
Lionshead will be paved
from Business Park
Drive to Eagle Drive.

Pipeline Construction - Avenida Encinas
Crews are continuing
work in the jack and bore
pit in front of West Bistro
and Hotel.
Casing is complete,
machine has been
extracted. Currently
welding and pressure
grouting, carrier pipe to
be installed this week.

Pipeline Construction – I-5 Tunnel
All casings will be
installed by the end of
this week and welding
and pressure grouting will
begin.
After welding the casing,
Pipe installation will begin
at the end of March.
Tunnel will be complete
early May.

Jack and bore pit is complete on the NRG site and
installing casing has begun.
Casing is 30% complete.
