RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Ordinance No. CS-247. approving an amendment to Title 10, Chapter 10.44, of the Carlsbad
Municipal Code by the revision of Section 10.44.210(c) to reduce the 40 mile per hour speed limit on
Alicante Road from Poinsettia Lane to Gateway Road to 30 miles per hour.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Ordinance No. CS-247 was introduced and first read at the City Council meeting held on March 25, 2014.
The second reading allows the City Council to adopt the ordinance which will become effective thirty days
after adoption. The City Clerk will have the ordinance or a summary of the ordinance published within
fifteen days, if adopted.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
The project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CECIA) per State CEQA Guidelines
Section 15301(c) - minor alteration of existing facilities, including streets, sidewalks, gutters, and similar
facilities involving negligible or no expansion.

CAUFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER 10.44 OF THE
CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY REVISION OF SECTION
4 10.44.210(c) TO REDUCE THE 40 MILE PER HOUR SPEED UMIT
UPON AUCANTE ROAD FROM POINSETTIA LANE TO GATEWAY
5 ROAD TO 30 MILES PER HOUR.
^ The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as follows:

That Title 10, Chapter 10.44 ofthe Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended by the revision
of Section 10.44.210(c) to read as follows:
"10.44.210-Alicante Road.

c. Upon Alicante Road from Poinsettia Lane to its intersection with
Gateway Road, the prima facie speed limit shall be thirty miles per
<j2 hour.
13 EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its
14 adoption; and the city clerk shall certify the adoption of this ordinance and cause the full text of the
15 ordinance or a summary of the ordinance prepared by the city attorney to be published at least
1^ once in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Carlsbad within fifteen (15) days after its
adoption.
