RECOMMENDED ACTION;
To receive a presentation from representatives of Poseidon Resources and the San Diego County Water
Authority regarding the Carlsbad Desalination project.
ITEM EXPLANATION;
Representatives from Poseidon Resources and the San Diego County Water Authority will give an update
on current and future activities relating to the construction ofthe Carlsbad Desalination project.
FISCAL IMPACT;
None.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT;
Pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project" within the
meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment,
or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment, and therefore does not require
environmental review.

Pipeline Construction — Lower Faraday
^ Due to pipe location, one lane of traffic flagging from 8:30-3:30 until
the Fall.
> Sections of Lower Faraday to be paved this Saturday.
Pipeline Construction — Faraday A venue / CRC
> Crews are restoring between College and Rutherford and trenching
and installing pipe east of Rutherford. Rutherford tunnel will begin
after restoration on the north side of Faraday is completed.
> Outreach continues in the CRC, positive feedback from CRCOA
regarding work to date.

Pipeline Construction — Lionshead / Melrose
Crews continue to install pipe on Melrose until September.
Intersection of Melrose and Lionshead will be closed until mid-July
while crews stabilize utilities and work to install pipe underneath.
Working closely with the Cities of Carlsbad and Vista on the traffic
control on Melrose and Faraday.
Pipeline Construction — Macario Tunnel
> Tunnel pit excavation has begun on Cannon.
> Tunnel pit in Veteran's Park will begin in July.

> Carrier skids failed while pushing
pipe. SDCWA approved repair
plan and repairs started 6/24.
> Repairs will take 2-4 weeks
> Cannon Road and Avenida
Encinas pits will be restored and
road opened mid-August.
> Delay has been communicated to
West Development.
