RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2014-208 accepting the contract for construction of the 2012 Pavement
Overlay, Project No. 6001-12OL as complete and directing the City Clerk to record a Notice of Completion
and release bonds in accordance with State Law and City Ordinances.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On October 2, 2012 the City of Carlsbad awarded a contract to All American Asphalt in the amount of
$2,453,453 forthe construction ofthe 2012 Pavement Overlay, Project No. 6001-12OL
All American Asphalt substantially completed the work on April 16, 2014. City staff has inspected the
work and found it to be satisfactory. Staff recommends acceptance of the work by City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The final change order is currently being negotiated, but will fall within the Council approved
contingency. Below is the final project cost to date.

The approval of a Notice of Completion is a ministerial process and is exempt from the requirements of
the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Carlsbad Municipal Code Section
19.04.070A.l.a.

7 WHEREAS, the construction of the 2012 Pavement Overlay was completed to the city's
8 satisfaction by All American Asphalt on April 16, 2014; and
^ WHEREAS, the formal Notice of Completion has been prepared; and
WHEREAS, the final contract change order is currently being negotiated, the amount of
which will fall within the City Council approved contingency.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED bythe City Council ofthe City of Carlsbad, California

15 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the 2012 Pavement Overlay, specifically identified as Project No. 600-12OL is
deemed complete and is hereby accepted by the City Council ofthe City of Carlsbad.
3. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized and directed to execute
and record the Notice of Completion forthe 2012 Pavement Overlay, Project No. 6001-12OL
