Dear City Manager,
Please accept this request for Janell Cannon and me to
present a short power point presentation at the City Council
Meeting on Tuesday, October 21 concerning the interest of
Carlsbad residents to safeguard the City-owned lands in Olde
Carlsbad, including the Cole agricultural land, the Carey
Estate, Buena Vista Reservoir and other property adjacent to
the Cultural Arts Center and Fire Station #1 on Carlsbad Village
Drive.
The goal of this presentation is to inspire and encourage the
Council City to direct Staff to zone this land as Open Space on
the new General Plan that is under consideration now.
Furthermore, we feel that it is time to study options for the
property as Open Space for City Use purposes: aesthetic,
educational and historic park space including scenic gardens,
expanded library, gallery and exhibit space. It is our hope that
we can work with the City to analyze the highest and best use
for the land providing for the greatest benefit to a high tier city
with an excellent quality of life for all ages.
Respectfully,
Janann Taylor
