RECOMMENDED ACTION:
To receive a presentation from representatives of Poseidon Resources and the San Diego County Water
Authority regarding the Carlsbad Desalination project.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Representatives from Poseidon Resources and the San Diego County Water Authority will give an update
on current and future activities relatingto the construction ofthe Carlsbad Desalination project.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project" within the
meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment,
or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment, and therefore does not require
environmental review.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION:
Listed on City of Carlsbad website.

Pipeline Construction –Lower Faraday
Flagging one lane of traffic from 8:30-3:30 continues through mid-
December.
Flaggers are stationed at each driveway to assist with exit and entry
in both directions.
Sections of Lower Faraday have been paved. Pipe will tie in at Van
Allen mid-December. Work in the CRC will be complete at that time.

Pipeline Construction –Faraday Avenue / El Camino
Crews continue to install pipe between El Camino Real and Orion.
Tunnels are underway under El Camino and Orion as to not disrupt
traffic more than necessary.
This work should continue until late December.

Faraday Avenue / Orion
Work has begun on Faraday between El Fuerte and Orion
heading west towards Orion.
This work should continue until mid-January.

Pipeline Construction –Melrose / Faraday
Crews have completed median restoration on Melrose and turn
patterns onto Faraday have been fully restored.

Tunnel boring at Macario is about 45% complete.
Excavation of the tunnel pit on Faraday continues and tunneling
towards Cannon will begin early December.
