RECOMMENDED ACTION:
To receive a presentation from representatives of Poseidon Resources and the San Diego County Water
Authority regarding the Carlsbad Desalination project.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Representatives from Poseidon Resources and the San Diego County Water Authority will give an update
on current and future activities relatingto the construction ofthe Carlsbad Desalination project.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project" within the
meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment,
or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment, and therefore does not require
environmental review.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION:
Listed on City of Carlsbad website.

Tunnel boring at Macario is
about 50% complete.
A double shift, including
night work, began March 3
and will continue thru the
end of March. Residents in
this area have been notified.
Macario Tunnel will be
complete mid-late April.

Pipeline Construction –Lower Faraday
Pipe installation is nearly complete in this area. When the Macario
Tunnel is complete the remaining pieces of pipe will be installed to
tie-in. Restorations and median landscaping on lower Faraday will
be completed at that time.

Small crews continue to work on manways and other appurtenances
throughout the City of Carlsbad. Individual traffic control is set up in
these areas.
