NjPCvl RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 2015-071 authorizing the Business Intelligence Manager to attend a four day summit, held In Las Vegas, Nevada to gain critical insights and advice on explores how to apply new business intelligence and analytic capabilities to strengthen business operations and advance new business models - on March 30 - April 1, 2015. ITEM EXPLANATION; The purpose of the travel is to attend the Gartner Business Intelligence & Analytics and Data Management Summits. As business in every industry transition to a digital future, information and its value to operational outcomes takes on a new, more Important role: the driver of innovation, effectiveness and efficiency, as well as risk management. The opportunities are significant, but the challenges are real-requiring organizations to adopt new strategies, programs, roles, and technologies that will establish clear alignment of information technology to the goals of the city business. Through analyst sessions, problem-solving workshops and peer interaction the Business Intelligence Manager will gain the insight necessary to transform city operations with analytics delivering greater transparency, decisiveness and personalization. FISCAL IMPACT: The cost to attend the summit is approximately $5,000.00 which includes admission to the summit, applicable flights, shuttles, lodging, and meals. Funds are available in the Information Technology Department budget to cover all estimated costs. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: Pursuant to Public Resources Code section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project" within the meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment, or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment, and therefore does not require environmental review.
