RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.2015-096 accepting the retrofit of Field Lighting Systems at Calavera Hills and
Stagecoach Community Parks, Project No. PWS14-38PKS, as complete and directing the City Clerk to
record a Notice of Completion in accordance with state law and city ordinances.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On September 23, 2014 the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2014-223, awarding Ace Electric Inc., the
contract for the retrofit of field lighting systems at Calavera Hills and Stagecoach Community Parks,
Project No. PWS14-38PKS.
Ace Electric Inc. substantially completed the subject work on January 7, 2015. Staff has inspected the
work, found it to be satisfactory, and recommends acceptance of the project.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
The approval of a Notice of Completion is a ministerial process and is exempt from the requirements of
the California Environmental Quality Act, pursuant to Carlsbad Municipal Code Sectionl9.04.070A.l.a.

J WHEREAS, the retrofit of field lighting systems at Calavera Hills and Stagecoach
8 Community Parks, Contract No. PWS-14-38PKS, was substantially completed to the city's
^ satisfaction by Ace Electric, Inc., on January 9, 2015; and
WHEREAS, the formal project Notice of Completion has been prepared; and
WHEREAS, all project costs have been established to date.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,

2. The retrofit of field lighting systems at Calavera Hills and Stagecoach Community
Parks, Contract No. PWS-14-38PKS, is deemed complete and the City Manager is
hereby authorized to execute the Acceptance of Public improvements attached

22 execute and record the Notice of Completion for the retrofit of the lighting systems

attached hereto as Exhibit 2a.
