RECOMMENDED AaiON:
Adopt Resolution No. 2015-144 approving the contract documents and authorizing the City Clerk
to advertise for bids for the 2015 Concrete Replacement Project No. 6013-15.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
As part ofthe city's annual Concrete Replacement Program, staff has assessed deteriorated, cracked, and
otherwise unusable concrete improvements within the public right-of-way. A list of locations was
produced to identify the curbs, gutters, sidewalks, curb ramps, and driveway approaches in need of
replacement.
Staff recommends approving the project and authorizing the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the
construction ofthe 2015 Concrete Replacement Project No. 6013-15.
FISCAL IMPAa:
The total estimated cost for the 2015 Concrete Replacement Project is $500,000.
2015 CONCRETE REPLACEMENT PROJEa ESTIMATED COSTS
Construction Contract Estimate $400,000
Construction Contingency (15%) $50,000
Inspection, Testing, and Construction Management (15%) $50,000
TOTAL ESTIMATED COST $500,000
The Concrete Replacement Program has a balance of $509,000 in Gas Tax funds available to complete
this project. Any remaining unspent funds will be carried forward for future concrete replacement
projects.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPAa:
The project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) per CEQA Guidelines Section
15301(c) - minor alteration of existing facilities including streets, sidewalks, gutters, and similar facilities
involving negligible or no expansion.

RESOLUTION NO. 2015-144
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CAUFORNIA, APPROVING THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE
2015 CONCRETE REPLACEMENT PROJECT NO. 6013-15.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, has determined it
necessary, desirable, and in the public interest to replace damaged and unusable concrete in
accordance with the city's ongoing Concrete Replacement Program; and
WHEREAS, the contract and specifications for furnishing of all labor, materials, tools,
equipment, transportation, and other expenses necessary or incidental to the 2015 Concrete
Replacement Project No. 6013-15, have been prepared and are on file in the Public Works
Department ofthe City of Carlsbad and are incorporated herein by reference; and
WHEREAS, the project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)
per CEQA Guidelines Section 15301(c); and
WHEREAS, sufficient funds are available for completion ofthe concrete repairs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the contract documents for the 2015 Concrete Replacement Project No.
6013-15 are on file in the Public Works Department of the City of Carlsbad and are hereby
approved.
3. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized and directed to
publish, in accordance with State law, a Notice to Contractors Inviting Bids for the construction of
the 2015 Concrete Replacement Project No. 6013-15, in accordance with the contract documents
referred to herein.
