RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 2015-162 authorizing settlement of Workers' Compensation claim of Jarlath Eppel for $237,937. ITEM EXPLANATION: The claimant Is a retired Police Officer. Mr. Eppel sustained multiple work related injuries over the course of his employment, resulting in permanent disabilities. The terms and conditions ofthe proposed settlement are set forth in Request For Settlement Agreement (on file in the Human Resources Department). The terms and conditions were agreed upon by the claimant and the city, and have been recommended by Keenan & Associates, the city's third party administrator. FISCAL IMPAa: The cost ofthe settlement is $237,937. There are sufficient funds available in the Workers' Compensation Self-Insurance Fund to cover the cost of this settlement. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: Pursuant to Public Resources Code section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project" within the meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment, or a reasonable foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment; and therefore, does not require environmental review. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the expenditure of $237,937 from the Workers' Compensation Self-Insurance Fund is authorized for the settlement of said claim. 3.
