RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2015-I8O accepting a fiscal year 2015-16 cash donation of
$78,685 and a pledge of $31,315 in additional support from the Friends ofthe Carlsbad City
Library, directing a letter of thanks, and authorizing the Administrative Services Director to
appropriate the received funds to the Library & Cultural Arts budget.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Friends of the Carlsbad City Library have donated $78,685 to the Library for the purchase
of library materials for the collection, and support a wide range of programs for adults and
children. In addition to these funds, the Friends have pledged an additional $31,315 in direct
support of Library programs for the 2015-16 fiscal year.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Donations from the Friends of the Carlsbad City Library augment the operating budget for the
Library allowing the purchase of materials and the continuation of programs for the community
that othenwise might not have been possible.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project"
within the meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical change
in the environment, or a reasonably foreseeable Indirect physical change in the environment,
and therefore does not require environmental review.
EXHIBITS:

$31,315 in additional support from the Friends ofthe Carlsbad City Library and authorizing the
Administrative Services Director to appropriate the received funds.

15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California,

21 the Carlsbad City Library and directs a letter of thanks, on behalf of all residents of
22 Carlsbad, and hereby authorizes the Administrative Services Director to appropriate
23 the received funds to the Library & Cultural Arts Department operating budget to
support the collection and programs.
