RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2015-202 approving plans and specifications and authorizing the City Clerk to
advertise for bids for the renovation of Fire Station No. 2, Project No. 4713.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The renovation of Fire Station No. 2, Project No. 4713, is included in the city's infrastructure replacement
program, and was identified in the Faithful and Gould Report as a facility that required renovation. The
project will provide the station with a unisex accessible bathroom addition, new roof, updated exterior,
and reconfiguration of the drive and parking layout for the fire fighter's vehicles.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The estimated construction cost for the Renovation of Fire Station No. 2 is shown in the table below:
Construction Contract $325,000
Construction Contingency $16,929
Total Estimated Project Cost $341,929
The project is currently appropriated in the Capital Improvement Program in the Infrastructure
Replacement Fund.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
This project is exempt from California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review pursuant t~ CEQA
Guidelines Section 15301(d)-Existing Facilities-restoration or rehabilitation of existing facilities that are
deteriorated or damaged and are required to meet current standards of public health and safety
involving negligible or no expansion of use.

WHEREAS, the City Council has determined it necessary, desirable, and in the public

7 interest to maintain public safety infrastructure in accordance with the Infrastructure
8 Replacement Fund; and
^ WHEREAS, the plans and specifications for furnishing all labor, materials, equipment,
and other necessary expenses to the renovation of Fire Station No. 2, Project No. 4713, have
been prepared and are on file in the Public Works Department ofthe City of Carlsbad and are
incorporated herein by reference.
14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the plans, specifications, and contract documents for the renovation of Fire
Station No. 2, on file in the Public Works Department ofthe City of Carlsbad are

21 3. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized and directed to publish,
22 in accordance with State law, a Notice to Contractors Inviting Bids for the
Construction of the Renovation of Fire Station No. 2 Project No. 4713, in

herein.
