ITEM EXPLANATION:
On July 28, 2015 Council adopted Resolution No. 2015-204 authorizing the Carlsbad Fire Department to apply for
SDG&E SAFE San Diego Initiative grant funds for Carlsbad Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). $2,500
has been awarded to the City of Carlsbad and will be used to purchase broad-brimmed sun hats to protect CERT
members from the sun while operating outdoors and exposed to high temperatures and direct sunlight for
extended periods. The Burn Institute acts as SDG&E's grant fund manager for organizations that do not have
501 (c)3 status.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The SDG&E grant award of $2,500 represents one-time funds. Matching funds are not required. The SDG&E funds
will be appropriated to the Fire Department Emergency Preparedness program in the General Fund.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 21065, this grant application request does not constitute a "project"
within the meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment,
or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment, and therefore does not require
environmental review.

Good Afternoon David,
I just wanted to follow-up regarding your funding from the SDG&E Safe San Diego Initiative Grant. It is my understanding
you were waiting on a vote to accept the money, has that happened? If so please send me a "formal" request via email
with the following information so we can cut the check for your CERT.
1. Submit the request via email with signature of name, organization, and phone
2. Request the exact amount ($2,500) of your SDG&E Safe San Diego award in the letter
3. Include where to send the payment and,
4. Designation of how your organization will be using the grant (i.e. CERT training and
Equipment, etc.) No more than 1-2 general sentences.
Please feel welcome to call if any questions remain!
Thank you,
Allie Raimondo
