RECORD NOTICE OF COMPLETION AND RELEASE BONDS CITYMGR.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution no. 2015-261 accepting the contract for construction of the Carlsbad
Boulevard Overhead Railing Improvements and Retaining Wall Rehabilitation, Project Nos. 6016 & 3557,
as complete and directing the City Clerk to record a Notice of Completion and release bonds in
accordance with state law and city ordinances.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On Sept. 23, 2014 the City Council of the City of Carlsbad awarded a contract to Beador Construction
Company, Inc. in the amount of $636,300 for the construction of the Carlsbad Boulevard Overhead
Railing Improvements and Retaining Wall Rehabilitation, Project Nos. 6016 & 3557.
Beador Construction Company, Inc. completed the work on Aug. 10, 2015. Staff has inspected the work
and found it to be satisfactory. Staff recommends acceptance of the improvements by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT:
CARLSBAD BOULEVARD OVERHEAD RAILING IMPROVEMENTS AND

Construction Contingency: $ 63,630
Total: $ 699,930

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
The approval of a Notice of Completion is a ministerial process and is exempt from the requirements of
the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Carlsbad Municipal Code Section
19.04.070A.l.a.

WHEREAS, the construction ofthe Carlsbad Boulevard Overhead Railing Improvements
and Retaining Wall Rehabilitation was completed to the city's satisfaction by Beador
Construction Company, Inc. on Aug. 10, 2015; and
11 WHEREAS, the formal Notice of Completion has been prepared; and
12 WHEREAS, all project costs have been established to date

hereby accepted by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad.

execute and record the Notice of Completion for the Carlsbad Boulevard Overhead Railing
Improvements and Retaining Wall Rehabilitation, Project Nos. 6016 & 3557.
