RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt a resolution appointing three members to the Beach Preservation Committee.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Three appointments to the Beach Preservation Committee are required at this time. The term of
Committee Members Linda Petrucci, Norelynn Pion-Goureau and Shelley Sander expired in June,
2016. Ms. Petrucci was appointed in July, 2012 and wishes to be re-appointed for a second term.
Ms. Pion-Goureau was appointed in August 2012 and also wishes to be re-appointed. Committee
Member Sander is eligible to serve a second four-year term; however, she has indicated that she
does not wish to serve another term.
Other members ofthe Beach Preservation Committee are: Amy Ahrendt, D. Bret Barger, Fred Briggs
and Darryl Hatheway.
Applications received for the Beach Preservation Committee are on file in the Office of the City Clerk.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Pursuant to Public Resources Code section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project" within
the meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause wither a direct physical change in the
environment, or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment, and
therefore does not require environmental review.

RESOLUTION NO. 2016-169
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING THREE MEMBERS TO
THE BEACH PRESERVATION COMMITTEE.
Exhibit 1
WHEREAS, the terms of Committee Members Linda Petrucci, Norelynn Pion-Goureau and
Shelley Sander expired in June 2016, and
WHEREAS, there is currently three vacancies on the Beach Preservation Committee, and
WHEREAS, Ms. Petrucci was appointed in July 2012 and is eligible to serve a second four-
year term; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Petrucci has requested to be re-appointed for another four-year term; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Pion-Goureau was appointed in August 2012 and is eligible to serve a
second four-year term; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Pion-Goureau has requested to be re-appointed for another four-year
term; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Sander was appointed in May 2013 to fulfill the unexpired term of Pieter
de Monchy; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Sander does not wish to be re-appointed.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California,
as follows:

2. That the following individuals are hereby appointed to serve on the Beach
Preservation Committee for a term ending in June, 2020.

The following vacancy exists in the City of Carlsbad.
BEACH PRESERVATION COMMITTEE
Three Vacancies.
The Beach Preservation Committee shall consist of seven members, and shall investigate
and report on topics or studies related to beach erosion as directed by the City Council
and City Manager. Appointments are made by the mayor with city council concurrence.
Term: June, 2016 to June, 2020.
Applications are available on the City's website or in the City Clerk's Office located in City Hall at
1200 Carlsbad Village Drive, Carlsbad. Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk's Office
by noon on May 14, 2016. For further information, contact the City Clerk's Office at (760} 434-
2808.
