Recommended Action Approval of a Resolution accepting the Contract for Construction of the Romeria Drainage Improvements and La Costa Avenue Slope Repair, Project Nos. 6604 and 6024, as complete and directing the City Clerk to record a Notice of Completion and release bonds in accordance with state laws and city ordinances. Executive Summary On July 28, 2015 the City Council approved Resolution 2015-201 to award a Contract to Vailston Company, Inc. in the amount of $404,553 for the construction of the Romeria Drainage Improvements and La Costa Avenue Slope Repair. Vailston Company, Inc. completed the Contract work on May 31, 2016. Staff has inspected the work and found it to be satisfactory. Staff recommends accepting the Contract for Construction of the Romeria Drainage Improvements and La Costa Avenue Slope Repair, Project Nos. 6604 and 6024, as complete and directing the City Clerk to record a Notice of Completion and release bonds in accordance with state laws and city ordinances. Discussion The Romeria Drainage Improvement Project includes replacement of an existing concrete lined drainage channel which runs through open space westerly of Romeria Street, slope protection at the headwall connecting the channel to the storm drain system and an all-weather maintenance access road. It also includes repairing an area subject to historic landslides located on city property south of La Costa Avenue just westerly of the channel. Installation of a subdrain system and geotextile fabric within the reconstructed slope is intended to prevent future slope movement. That the Romeria Drainage Improvements and La Costa Avenue Slope Repair, specifically identified as Project Nos. 6604 and 6024, is deemed complete and is hereby accepted by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad. 3.
