Revisions to the Previously Adopted 2016 Regular City Council Meeting
Calendar and Approval of the 2017 Regular City Council Meeting Calendar
Recommended Action
Adopt a resolution approving revisions to the 2016 Regular City Council Meeting Calendar; and,
Adopt a resolution approving the 2017 Regular City Council Meeting Calendar.
Executive Summary /Discussion
City Council establishes its regular meeting schedule annually by resolution. Adopting the
calendar by resolution meets Brown Act requirements (Government Code §54954) and provides
Council the opportunity to increase notification to the public of its scheduled regular meetings.
Special meetings can still be called as needed by providing 24 hours-notice before the time of
such special meeting, and providing notice to each local newspaper of general circulation and
radio and television station that have requested notice in writing or other means.
Staff is recommending that the 2016 City Council Meeting Calendar be amended as follows:
• The December 13, 2016 meeting originally scheduled for 9:00a.m. shall be held at 6:00p.m.
(this is the meeting where the newly elected City Council Members will be sworn in)
• Cancel the meeting scheduled for December 27, 2016 at 6:00p.m. (due to holiday proximity)
Fiscal Analysis
There are no significant fiscal impacts that would result from adoption of the attached
resolutions.
Next Steps
The City Clerk Services Manager will post the calendars on the City's website.
Environmental Evaluation (CEQA)
Adoption of the resolution establishing the schedule of regular meetings to be held by the
Carlsbad City Council for 2016 is not a project within the meaning of CEQA (Public Resources Code
§21065).

RESOLUTION NO. 2016-210
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, REVISING THE 2016 REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
CALENDAR
Exhibit 1
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad City Council has determined it will establish its scheduled regular
meetings annually by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Ralph M. Brown Act (Government Code §54954) provides for the establishment
of an annual regular meeting calendar procedure; and
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2015-263 on October 20, 2015 establishing
the dates and locations for regular meetings of the Carlsbad City Council for calendar year 2016; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to modify the adopted calendar as shown in Attachment A.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California as
follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the December 13, 2016 Regular City Council Meeting shall be held at 6:00p.m ..
3. That the December 27, 2016 Regular City Council Meeting is cancelled.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad on the 25th day of October, 2016, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Hall, Wood, Schumacher, Blackburn, Packard.
NOES: None.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE 2017 REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
CALENDAR

WHEREAS, the Carlsbad City Council has determined it will establish its scheduled regular
meetings annually by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Ralph M. Brown Act (Government Code §54954) provides for the establishment
of an annual regular meeting calendar procedure; and
WHEREAS, special meetings of the City Council will be called as necessary following the
requirements of the Brown Act (Government Code §54956).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California as
follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the 2017 calendar establishing the dates and locations for regular City Council
meetings (Attachment A) is hereby approved.
3. That the 2017 calendar will be posted to the city's website.
