Subject: Appoint Members of the City Council to the San Diego Association of
Governments (SAN DAG) Shoreline Preservation Working Group
Recommended Action
Adopt a Resolution appointing members of the City Council to serve as primary member and
alternate on the San Diego Association of Governments (SAN DAG) Shoreline Preservation
Working Group.
· Executive Summary /Discussion
Staff received an e-mail from SAN DAG requesting that the City Council appoint one primary
member and one alternate to the SAN DAG Shoreline Preservation Working Group.
The Shoreline Preservation Working Group has 13 members, which are elected officials from
Bayfront and coastal cities, the County of San Diego; and a representative from the Port of San
Diego, and the U.S. Navy. The Working Group meets the first Thursday of the month in June,
September and December. The first meeting of this year is scheduled to be a Special Meeting
held on Thursday, March 14.
Fiscal Analysis
None.
Next Steps
The City Clerk will update the city's website and City Council meeting agenda template to
reflect the new committee assignments.
Environmental Evaluation (CEQA)
Pursuant to Public Resources Code section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project"
within the meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause wither a direct physical change
in the environment, or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment,
and therefore does not require environmental review.
Public Notification and Outreach
This item was noticed in accordance with the Ralph M. Brown Act and was available for viewing
at least 72 hours prior to the meeting date.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA,
APPOINTING MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO THE SAN DIEGO
ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS {SANDAG) SHORELINE PRESERVATION
WORKING GROUP

WHEREAS, On January 23, 2019 staff received notification from the San Diego Association of
Governments {SAN DAG) requesting that the City Council appoint a primary representative and an alternate
to serve on the SAN DAG Shoreline Preservation Working Group; and
WHEREAS, SANDAG requests that the appointments be made at a regular City Council meeting in
February 2019.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the following Carlsbad City Council Members are hereby appointed as Primary and
Alternate Members to the San Diego Association of Governments Shoreline Preservation
Working Group, for a term ending in December 2019 or until a replacement is appointed:
Primary Member: Mayor Pro Tern Bhat-Patel
Alternate Member: Council Member Hamilton
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Carlsbad
on the 19th day of February 2019, by the following vote, to wit:

To date, SAN DAG has not received your appointment to the Shoreline Preservation Working Group (SPWG). The SWPG has 13
voting members, which are elected officials from bayfront and coastal cities, the County of San Diego, and a representative from the
Port of San Diego, and the U.S. Navy.
Please let me know if/when you will make your appointment to the SPWG or, if already done, please advise me of that
appointee's name and contact information.
