Discussion
The Carlsbad Friends of the Arts is a non-profit, community-based organization founded in 1987
with the mission to support cultural arts programs and activities in the City of Carlsbad. The
Friends raise funds through opportunity drawings conducted at the TGIF concerts,
advertisements in a souvenir program distributed at the concerts and through their
membership program. This donation of $6,775 supported the second season of Starring Artists,
an interview and performance series spotlighting artists, their art form and their journey in the
arts. The Carlsbad Friends of the Arts first sponsored Starring Artists during its inaugural season
in Spring 2018 and will continue their support of the program in its third season during Spring
2020. The Carlsbad Friends of the Arts also support exhibit receptions in the William D. Cannon
Gallery and arts education programming.
Fiscal Analysis
This donation from the Carlsbad Friends of the Arts will provide a reimbursement for funding of
the Cultural Arts Office's Starring Artists program in FY 2018-19.
