Subject: Designation of voting delegate and alternates for the League of California
Cities Annual Conference Oct. 16-18, 2019
Recommended Action
Adopt a Resolution designating a voting delegate and alternates for the League of California
Cities Annual Conference in Long Beach, CA, Oct. 16-18, 2019.
Executive Summary/Discussion
Notice has been received from the League of California Cities (the League) requesting each city
select a voting representative for the Annual Business Meeting. The Annual Business Meeting is
scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, at the Long Beach Convention Center. Each
member city of the League has a right to cast one vote on matters pertaining to League policy.
At this meeting, the League membership considers and takes action on resolutions that
establish League policy.
Consistent with League bylaws, a city's voting delegate and up to two alternates must be
designated by the City Council. Therefore, it is necessary to appoint a delegate to pick up the
City's voting card and attend the General Business Session at the Annual Conference scheduled
for Wednesday, Oct. 16 through Friday, Oct. 18, 2019. The Council may also appoint up to two
alternate voting delegates, one of whom may vote in the event that the designated member is
unable to serve in that capacity.
Fiscal Analysis
Designating a voting delegate and alternates does not result in a fiscal impact to the City.
Adequate funds were budgeted in the City Council budget for travel associated with attending
the Annual Conference.
Next Steps
Prior to Aug. 30, 2019 staff will submit the necessary notification to the League of the Council's
appointed voting delegate and alternates.

Environmental Evaluation (CEQA)
Pursuant to Public Resources Code section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project"
within the meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause wither a direct physical change
in the environment, or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment,
and therefore does not require environmental review.
Public Notification and Outreach
This item was noticed in accordance with the Ralph M. Brown Act and was available for public
viewing and review at least 72 hours prior to scheduled meeting date.

in the event that the designated voting delegate is unable to serve in that capacity.
Please complete the attached Voting Delegate form and return it to the League's office

• Conference Registration Required. The voting delegate and alternates must be
registered to attend the conference. They need not register for the entire conference; they
may register for Friday only. To register for the conference, please go to our website:
