CA Review v.Jv ---
Subject: Settlement of the Workers' Compensation claims of Robert Collier for
$110,000.
Recommended Action
Adopt a Resolution authorizing settlement of the Workers' Compensation claims of Robert
Collier for $110,000.
Executive Summary
The claimant is a former police officer. Officer Collier sustained work related illnesses and
injuries in the course of his employment resulting in permanent disability.
Pursuant to Resolution No. 2015-086, settlements over $50,000 require City Council approval.
Discussion
The terms and conditions of the proposed settlement are set forth in the Settlement
Authorization Request (on file in the Human Resources Department). The terms and conditions
were agreed upon by the claimant and the city, and have been recommended by AdminSure
Inc., the city's workers' compensation third party administrator.
Fiscal Analysis
The cost of the settlement is $110,000. There are sufficient funds available in the Workers'
Compensation Self-Insurance Fund to cover the cost of this settlement.
Environmental Evaluation (CEQA)
Pursuant to Public Resources Code section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project"
within the meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical change
in the environment, or a reasonable foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment;
and therefore, does not require environmental review.
