RECOMMENDED ACTION: Accept Staff Report and File ITKM EXPLANATION: On -^vriiy 28, 1988, the City Council considered the proposed acquisition of the Sherman Property adjacent to the existing Alta Mira Park Site. After discussion, the City Council appointed the City Manager or his designee as the negotiator to talk to the owner and their representative. To date, environmental review of the property has been performed to determine the suitability of the property for park purposes and a real estate appraisal has determined the current value of the existing property. Negotiations to acquire this parcel for park purposes are continuing. The Pacific Rim Development is required by the Growth Management program to provide approximately 25 acres of community park land. In addition, Hillman Properties (previously H.P.I.) is required to develop 15 acres of that park site. Park staff in cooperation with the Growth Management Division and Engineering Department are evaluating the Environmental Review of Park Property offered by the Pacific Rim Development. Preliminary staff work is currently being performed prior to the consideration of any development plans. O.N.A. , a landscape architect firm, in conjunction with Hillman Properties has however prepared a conceptual park design to introduce possible considerations for park amenities. Once preliminary staff work has been completed, the actual design and public review process can begin. The Commission will be kept informed of the development process of this park site on a regular basis . zo H U t/1c/1 i 8 031
