P & R TITLE:•" AGUA HEDIONDA LAGOON (AHL) AT.R IPIII TUR Al PRACTICES r»PPT HD. CITY ATTY CITY MGR. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Accept monitoring procedures for reduction of siltation build- up in Agua Hedionda Lagoon (AHL). ITEM KDPLAMATIOM: Commissioner Dahlguist requested staff to examine the Agricultural practices used to reduce the siltation build-up in AHL from adjacent agricultural use. Staff contacted SDG&E (Exhibit 1) which leases land for agricultural use on the south side of AHL. on a tour of the agricultural land, SDG&E explained that siltation basins have been in place since 1984 in an effort to impede siltation run- off into the lagoon. Disking procedures prior to planting and immediately after harvest further reduce soil migration. SDG&E frequently monitors the siltation basins as well as farming techniques in an effort to reduce siltation build-up. i-u o ui oo 1. Box 1831 San Diego, CA 92112 AGUA HEDIONDA LAGOON AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES Thanks for your immediate response to my request to look into the current agricultural practices on SDG&E leased land adjacent to the south shore of Agua Hedionda Lagoon. I appreciate finding out the facts including the information that siltation basins were installed after our complaint in 1984 and that SDG&E continues to monitor these basins and the farming practices of the lessee. Thanks for offering to have John Burton show us around the site. Being able to see these basins and the south shore area from the SDG&E side of the Lagoon will be an "eye opener". I'll look forward to hearing from John. Again, thanks for your quick response to my call.
