RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve circulation redesign for main parking lot at
Stagecoach Park.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
A review of traffic circulation concerns at the Stagecoach
Park gymnasium/community center suggested a one-way traffic
pattern would be more effective in terms of eliminating
traffic congestion.
A trial period to consider such a traffic flow pattern has
shown that uni-directional traffic is in fact less congestive.
Angular parking was also considered; however, current
perpendicular parking allows for more parking spaces and
appears to be satisfactory.
The Traffic Engineering Division is in accord with staff's
recommendation to create a one-way traffic pattern with
perpendicular parking on a permanent basis. With the
Commissions' approval, a work order to improve and enhance
directional markings in the parking lot will be expedited.
