"Pf #- TITLE: EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION (INFO) DEPT. HD. CITY ATTY CITY MGR. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Review, accept, and file attached press release acknowledging recent employee awards presented to department staff at the C.P.R.S. District XII Annual Installation and Awards Banquet. ITEM EXPLANATION: Carlsbad Parks and Recreation department employees were recently presented with awards during the Annual C.P.R.S. Awards and Installation Banquet. Although several Commissioners were in attendance, the attached will serve to inform other Commissioners of the honors bestowed upon these department members. Bettin Recreation Supervisor II 434-2924 Members of the Carlsbad Parks & Recreation Department were recently recognized at the Annual California Parks and Recreation Society, District XII awards and installation banquet. The banquet was held Friday, February 2nd at the Vista Senior Center. Some 180 representatives from agencies all over San Diego county attended. Ken Price, the Principal Recreation Supervisor for Carlsbad received the "Service Award"; given for outstanding dedication and service to the district. Ken served as the 1989 fundraising chairman. He spearheaded a Golf Tournament that raised over $1,000. for C.P.R.S. Anne Nelson, a part-time instructional class aide received the "Ray Butler Scholarship". This financial scholarship for recreation students is given for outstanding academic achievement and involvement in the field. Dave Millikan, Recreation Supervisor II for Carlsbad was installed as the 1990 Treasurer for the Executive Board of C.P.R.S. District XII. Robin P. Bettin, Recreation Supervisor II was honored for her service as the 1989 President of the District. She will continue to sit on the Executive Board for 1990 serving as the Past President. Representatives from the Herrick Community Foundation were awarded a "Recognition Award" for their sponsorship of various Carlsbad Parks £ Recreation Dept. programs and volunteer efforts.
