USE AGREEMENT FOR ELECTRONIC
SCOREBOARDS (ACTION)
DFPT. HD.
CITY ATTY
CITY MGR.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve Use Agreement for electronic scoreboards installed by Carlsbad
Little League at Chase and Pine fields.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
At the March Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, the Commission
unanimously approved a request from Carlsbad Little League to install
scoreboards at Chase field. In addition, the Commission endorsed a
request to install a similar Scoreboard at Pine field. Staff was
directed to develop a program for joint use of the scoreboards should
other community organizations wish to utilize the scoreboards.
Attached is a use agreement prepared by staff which would allow for joint
use of the electronic scoreboards. Essentially, the agreement stipulates
that the City will purchase a separate control panel and make that
available to other user groups with a refundable deposit. If damage to
the scoreboards (or control panel) results from that group's use, the
deposit will be forfeited and applied to any necessary repairs. In
addition, the City reserves the right to charge for use of the separate
control panel. However, the fee would be minimal and would not be
charged to non-profit organizations.
Both Carlsbad American and National Little League organizations are in
accord with the terms of this agreement.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost of a separate master control unit is approximately $300.
are available in this year's operating budget.
